Border Patrol shooting in Nogales Arizona... UPDATE

Picture of the US-Mexico Border, taken from No...Image via Wikipedia
*** IF you are looking for info on the Feb 2nd shooting of the 2 US students in Juarez please go here.

The US border patrol was involved in a shooting today in Nogales,  Arizona.  The FBI is on site and investigating, it is not know who initiated the the shooting or if there have been any injuries. The city of Nogales on the Mexican side of the border has been plagued with drug violence and is a major corridor that is being fought over by cartels in the area. Nogales is also a major route for the human smuggling trade and with Tucson just to the north used as a distribution point for the rest of the US.

Ladies and Gentlemen I have stated it the past that if you do not have any business near the US/ Mexican border I would advise you not to be near it at this point. Travel to these locations is at your risk and why bother if you don't have to, especially the Tucson sector. If you must go to these areas then it would be well advised that stay alert and use caution, you should practice that anyway but under the circumstances more so.
***UPDATE***
Further news it the border patrol shooting, At this point there are no injured parties from either side from the shooting. As reported at this time the whole incident involves an attempt of drug smuggling that was intercepted, Rocks were thrown at the agent and at that time they returned fire with handguns. Lesson of the day, don't bring a rock to a gun fight.

Legalized Civilian Militia Groups the Answer to Arizona's Border Security Problems?

On the Record  Read more:
GRETA VAN SUSTEREN, FOX NEWS HOST: OK, hold onto your seat! Is Arizona about to do it again? Now, first they shook up things with their illegal immigration law, and now Arizona State Representative-elect Jack Harper is pushing to form a militia group in his state.

Jack, in 2007, you passed legislation to create a state-sanctioned militia here in Arizona. The then-governor, Napolitano, vetoed it. You're now going to bring it back. Where are we with that?
I am all for any country controlling their border, without a border you are not a country your a transitional corridor. From what I gather with this proposed bill you would as a private person  volunteer and be placed under supervision of the national guard / border patrol and assist them with their duties. Now for the state to deploy their nation guard on the border would cost millions of dollars that the state does not have and shouldn't have to do in the first place as the federal government is supposed to do this. When faced with tight budgets volunteers could help out in great way as they would not get paid and it adds boots on the ground that are really needed , this does not address the issue of being able to work in the protected areas by the border but it would help.
Ultimately though this problem does not look like it will go away any time soon as this is purely a political issue that the government is scared to death to tackle.

APNewsBreak: Mexico plans immigration shake-up

APNewsBreak: Mexico plans immigration shake-up

Published January 02, 2011| Associated Press

Mexico plans a shake-up of its corruption-ridden immigration institute, officials said, after a year that saw some of the worst atrocities against illegal migrants trekking through the country — including the mass slaughter of 72 Central and South Americans trying to reach the United States.

Yes this is the Government of Mexico saying this, that they will do better wile they criticize the US as being racist and violating human rights, I do not even know where to start with these pukes, I really don't. I so can't wait for the people of south America so finally say enough is enough with respect to their governments and put them out of power and put their houses in order, I know it might be a long time coming but sooner or later something has to give right?

Napolitano Talks About Ways to Stop IEDs

Napolitano Meets With Karzai, Talks About Ways to Intercept IED Chemicals

Published January 01, 2011
| FoxNews.com

Read more:
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano spoke with officials Saturday about ways to stop terrorists from transporting bomb-making chemicals across the Afghanistan-Pakistan border during a meeting with Afghan President Hamid Karzai and other members of his administration.
Great just what we need,  Napolitano is a failure, she has failed as a Governor when she ran Arizona, she has failed as the head of DHS and now she wants to give advice to another country on how to secure a border, get real. Over the years this woman has flat out refused to take control of our borders due to politics as usual. It galls me that someone would take such an important job and then purposely fail at it, oh wait I forgot that's politics.

Last police officer in Mexican border town missing

Ciudad Juarez en ChihuahuaImage via Wikipedia
Last police officer in Mexican border town missing

CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico – The last remaining police officer in the Mexican border town of Guadalupe has disappeared, and prosecutors in northern Chihuahua state said Tuesday they have started a search for her.
Emphasis on the gender HER, the ladies have been picking up the slack here in the war on drugs down in Mexico and they are unfortunately meeting the same fate as their male counterparts,  you have to give them credit. Here in the US we do not hear all of the stories of violence that are happening on a daily basis just south of us, we pay more attention to news thousands of miles away. Well we should pay attention, this violence is separated by a mere fence or an imaginary line, some violence has already spread across the line and killed American citizens as well as law enforcement as well as border patrol agents. The time has long past for the Government to take a serious interest in this problem, we should have had troops on the border years ago and not just a couple of hundred but thousands with a clear and defined mission. Sadly though politics will not allow it, if we actually secure the border and lock it down we remove safety valve for Mexico. Illegal activity from Mexico to the US generates millions of dollars for their country and if you shut it down you could very well see Mexico involved in a civil war and that would be bad for everyone.

Companies Shun violence in Mexico, Move back north

Companies Shun Violent Mexico

Complete story here

MEXICO CITY—Growing numbers of companies are deciding to limit their investments in Mexico because of spiraling drug-related violence in one of the world's most important emerging markets.
Sounds like a good plan to me, I am all for jobs moving here and hopefully staying here, especially the manufacturing type. Mexico is loosing out on billions of investment dollars due to the drug violence  in the country, roughly 10,000 killed a year in the past few years. It is no small wonder companies are taking a second look before they invest in the country.

Fifth American Killed in Mexican Border City

Published November 03, 2010
| Associated Press

CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico -- A U.S. university student died Wednesday from a shooting attack on a car in Ciudad Juarez, making him the fifth American slain in the violent border city in six days. Rest of article

Really? another kid killed just over the border in Mexico. I wonder what this is doing for tourism in Mexico? What is the economic impact as of late?

I have said it and I will say it again, if you do not have to go to the border much less Mexico why would you want to, especially in these areas that continue to have problems. Now not all border areas are under siege but that has been shown to change at any time. Bottom line, use your head, follow your gut and make decisions that make sense. SA up.

4 Americans killed in Mexican border city (Again)

CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico -- Four U.S. citizens were shot to death in separate attacks in the border city of Ciudad Juarez, Mexican authorities said Monday.

Rest of the story here (Fox News)

I have said it before and I will say it again, If you do not have any business going into Mexico DON'T.
It pains me to ever turn down any business but I recently did, I had the opportunity to go south for a series of inspections on some equipment, I had to say no, to me it is just not worth it. Be safe.

Border violence, this time on our side

Well I would say that it is not exactly the first batch of violence on this side of the border but I have been wondering when we would start to see it reported more.

Police Chief: Border Violence Has Offically Crossed Over

Last Update: 10/04 6:24 pm

BROWNSVILLE – Brownsville Police Chief Carlos Garcia says the border violence has officially crossed over into the Valley. Two Tamaulipas men were assassinated inside a truck Friday.

The chief of police says the investigation has led them to believe this wasn’t a crime committed by someone in the US. “This was a hit ordered by the cartel,” he says.

Cameron County Judge Carlos Cascos isn’t surprised to see spillover violence in Brownsville. He says, “it was a matter of time before it trickled down to our community.”

Residents say they didn't think it would become a reality. One woman who wanted to conceal her identity says witnessing a crime, such as the shooting of the Tamaulipas men, could be very dangerous. "If an innocent family would have been passing by and seen that they would have been the next target," said one woman. She worries about future violence and is considering moving out of the Valley.

Cascos advises everyone to be cautious and more aware of their surroundings.

I am a little behind folks, travel and work on the paying job but when it comes to this moron Napolitano she always makes the blood boil, I was so glad when she left Arizona but damn if she didn't go to a place where she could screw us even worse. I would ask how these people sleep at night but then I remember they have no conscience what so ever.
Note Log cabin work to continue here on Monday.

gunfight in Neuvo Loredo

The following link leads to the aftermath of a very nasty cartel on cartel gun battle down in Neuvo loredo just across the border from the state of Texas. For those of us that live near a southern border this type of violence has been ever increasing and many are wondering when it will spill over. Duck and cover, pay attention to your surroundings and don't be where you don't need to be is good advice.

Warning some of these pictures are very graphic......... not for kids
