Maybe 2024 will be it because what do we have left but the big one and that to me is China vs. Taiwan and the rest of the world and that should make Russia / Ukraine or Isreal vs. the Middle East look like a 5-year-old playdate. We have a weak POTUS right now and both Russia and China see that far better than those in our own country.

As things stand right now I will throw my thoughts out here and now, when it comes to Russia moving forward with its invasion of Ukraine it will happen and we the United States and the EU will do nothing more than protest and at the most put into place additional sanctions but nothing more.

The reason why in my opinion the EU will not get involved directly is that Russia has an energy strangelhold over them, Sanctions of some sort maybe but sanctions mean nothing when the natural gas gets turned off and you freeze to death. Russia while not quite the powerhouse it once was is still a very formidable adversary that you do not want to tangle with especially when they are in their own region.

With respect to the United States getting involved over the Ukraine issue I am leaning toward a very slight chance that the US gets directly involved, I do see sanctions as well as the funneling of arms to Ukraine as far more likely ( We are already doing this ) In summation the EU and the US just do not have for the most part anything to gain by going up against Russia in Ukraine and to be honest I think that by the time the world would be able to reach to the invasion it would be all over and Russia would hold most of the country and no world power wants to dig out a Russian bear.

China invading Taiwan for me is the larger global concern I believe this invasion will happen in my opinion, and the United States will be involved. Taiwan makes close to 90% of all semiconductor chips and has long been considered Chinese soil and they want it back for both reasons. We have all seen how China respects human rights and laws, ponder the plight of Hong Kong, Uyghurs, Tibet, and any other of the dozens of atrocities they have committed so you can only imagine how the people of Taiwan would be treated. Add to that the stranglehold the Chinese would put on the rest of the world when they have control of the semiconductor industry, this can not happen.

As I have said I do believe the invasion will happen and China will choose very carefully when they attack and again the United States, as well as several other countries will be drawn in. China must strike very hard and very fast to achieve this, they must overwhelm the defenses of Taiwan's land, naval, and air forces before US naval carrier groups can aid in defense. Japan has pledged support and following that England, as well as Australia, could lend support if in a position to do so. Indian may be a player as well considering their growing economic ties.

There is no doubt that one or maybe both of these potential conflicts may happen and the implications of the top 6 militaries (US, Russia, China, India, Japan, South Korea) all for the most part being involved will be huge, add into this 4 of these nations have nuclear capability and the potential for escalation while always there can not be discounted.

Stay frosty my friends.

Prepology

Scott Rhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06691939202323402610noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6161526625948441377.post-48608459216216265292021-12-31T12:53:00.003-07:002021-12-31T12:53:36.050-07:00 So 2021 told 2020 to hold my beer
So 2021 told 2020 to hold my beer and that begs the question of what 2022 will bring.

2021 ended up as much of a $hit show as the previous year "14 days to slow the spread" has turned into years now and if the control freaks have their way it will last much longer. We also have the .gov spending money on projects that will not be completed until several years into the future! Are they taking a precautionary outlook in our best interests or do they want to keep a massive amount of peeps on edge over this.

The .gov could not fight it's way out of wet paper bag no matter what party is in office, they have done one thing well though and that is to get the masses to be as divided against each other and be very dependant on big daddy gov. Never should you be more afraid of big government and the last 2 years should be all the proof you need.

If any person in this country can say with a straight face that they honestly believe things in this country are in good working order well I have a bridge to sell you. I have said before that we in this country are living on the shirt-tails of the past, we no longer produce or even lead the way in many new technologies but we import and debt our souls into everything new and shiny and all the while dumbing ourselves down to the lowest common denominator.

I find it hard to predict what will happen in these next few years but I do not see us coming together on much of anything either foreign or domestic. Take your pick on the issues: Civil strife, China, Russia, North Korea, Economics, Venomous Ducks, Disease or Plague, Mother-in-law, Middle East, Food Shortages, all jesting aside the world is a very fragmented place and we are for the most part just along for the ride while a very small few decide what shitstorm gets thrown our way next.

2020 and 2021 has shown us that almost anything can happen and will happen, from lockdowns, shortages, to unemployment, nothing screams vulnerability more. All this and being prepared is still looked down upon but it does seem to be slowly creeping into the mainstream until things get better and then all will be forgotten again. While everyone waits for the "Big one" I am equally concerned with the slow slide that is happening all around us, at the micro-level it may not seem like much but if you look at it in the macro it is clear as day. While the direction of humanity may be clear as day far too many people go out of their way to not see it or outright deny it, everyone wants to feel safe without actually being safe.

If you are still with me after what may be considered a gloom and doom article then great because I never try and leave an article on a sour note, I always try and leave on a better note, That said I will give my opinion on how to make it better. I can not overstate how important location, location, location, and a primary subcategory to that is GET OUT OF THE CITIES. There are few better things that you can do than put as much distance between yourself and cities.

Cities equal people and there are no other species as ruthless, vile, dangerous, and evil, look at any black Friday shopping event when the doors open and people fight over the television that is half price! just imagine if that was food they were after. If we were in another lockdown with shortages again, think of the toilet paper aisle on steroids. I will not trust my fellow man when times are tough in a city when we are so deep in the new ME ME ME world. To me a city only offers me one thing and that is high-level trauma centers, everything else you can workaround.

Rural living can bring a peace and security level that you just can not get in a city, people again are the focus. Far less people live in a rural setting and those that do want to be there and in my opinion are cut from a different cloth. The bonds you can and will make will be far stronger and by default, you will look out for each other. The advantages of being able to live in a more self-sufficient way will also bring a sense of pride and confidence, we have lost that as a society. Rural living does have it's challenges but life is full of challenges and anyone that puts in an honest effort can meet and surpass any and all challenges thrown their way.

I hope this may spur in some a reflection of where you are in both life and location and help you make good choices that will benefit how and where you live, decisions and actions have consequences that either help or hurt you so choose wisely.

"May you live interesting times" while a famous quote is now an understatement, I would add dangerous but opportunity, much like the red pill or the blue pill..... you decide!

Prepology.

Scott Rhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06691939202323402610noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6161526625948441377.post-40427806653638239412020-03-12T18:06:00.000-07:002020-03-12T18:06:02.961-07:00Corona virus - Why not

The Corona Virus, Is there anything else out there at the moment on the minds of just about everyone in the world that is not living under a rock?

Well as it is now being labeled a pandemic by the W.H.O. what are you and what can you do about it ? The hot word of the day is "Social Distancing" Nothing new for me I have been doing it for years but we are a social animal and need out interactions, You might want to change that for a while.

There is a lot going on in the news today that is actually clearing shelves everywhere in the country of you guessed it.....Toilet paper. It has flown off the shelves and out the door along with a whole host of other supplies that you would associate with hurricane and bad weather events, eggs, milk and bread. The country is in a panic over this and if we look at the stock market you can see the fear gripping that as well as circuit breakers trip and records set for losses in a week but hey gas is getting pretty cheap right ;)

But seriously if you are reading this then you have seen the writing on the wall for a few weeks and added to your hurricane, bad weather, social unrest, alien takeover and the like. Many people are just this week doing a double take at the news or what a fellow co-worker has said and thought it might be time to put a little extra into the kitchen cabinet.... Good I think you should considering that the average person has under a week of food at home.

If you are new here I would like to suggest the following basic supplies that actually do not at all seem out of the ordinary from what you might get over the coarse of a few shopping trips but with supplies dwindling with out just in time shipping it may be wise to put a little extra in the grocery cart.

We are most happy when we have what we normally have to eat, put aside going out to eat for a while as that puts you in contact with people and let me tell you that even those 5 star restaurants are nasty and dirty trust me, not only that but people are really lax about washing hands, they just are so if you can cut back on the eating out.

Now your list, buy what you eat its just that simple and the only change I would make is to just add to it but I would put an emphasis on some items that last longer, do not need refrigeration and can be eaten with as little preparation as possible, simple right?

My list and it has been shortened down a bit for brevity and generalization.

Water (Because you can just not have enough)

Bleach (Disinfecting surfaces or worst case used to purify questionable water)

Canned foods ( open can insert spoon, done )

Batteries ( More uses that you can list on a chalk board )

Soup making ingredients ( big pot, lots of options and pretty easy )

Pastas, rice, beans ( It may get old but it is pretty easy and cheap )

Spices ( DO I really need to explain here lol )

Canned meats or regular meats if you are sure you will not lose power

Paper products, Toilet paper, paper towels and paper plates ( Clean butts and less water usage )

General cleaning supplies (Gotta keep things clean)

This is a very basic list that can be manipulated to do what you need to work for you and is in now way complete, It could go into the hundreds of items but honestly nobody would want to read that so keep it simple, basics rule.

Keep in mind the 5 basics.

Food

Water

Shelter

Protection

Information

Everything else is a luxury.

China Battle on TradeI am down 6K in the market, And I DO NOT CARE.

Unless you have been living under a rock or deep in your bugout hole you might have heard we have a little tiff with China about trade and it will probably get worse, Good.

So down 6K and I say Good, Why. Simply stated we needed this to happen a very long, long time ago, We have been the suckers of the world for the past 100 years and with respect to china the last 30 at least. Now I am by no means an economist, guru, or any other specialist in the field but from where I sit I know and most everyone should know that we have been getting the short stick when it comes to China trade, Until now. China is being challenged by a president who is beholden to no one and has a business background that very few presidents in recent memory have, Like him or hate him we needed this the cycle to break.

Far too many Americans and businesses do not have the intestinal fortitude to rock the boat, they are perfectly happy to accept the status quo of relations, the idea of this, lets call it what it is a minor pain is what I am completely happy with in order to get a better long term and fair deal so yes I do not care that I am down 6K.

China needs growth to support it's growing working middle class and this does hurt them both directly and indirectly, there is a lot of noise about who really pays for tariffs, in reality we all do the US and China, the workers and the consumers and yes they are big numbers being thrown around, millions and billions. In the end though at the consumer level they are pretty small and well within our means to absorb and lets be honest you might not even notice it, business will go on as usual and you will still buy "Stuff" that you may not really need in the first place, Think about that.

I saw a massive amount of hate at what happened with the tweets on Friday that sent the markets south and all I could think was everyone getting all upset about their temporary loss and their greed not getting fulfilled, Pissing and moaning about money versus doing what is right and it really goes to show where our priorities have gone in this country for some but not all of the country. The markets go up and they go down and it seems that when it goes down everyone gets riled up especially new traders but in reality it is very healthy for some volatility and it always recovers to new highs, if a deal were signed tomorrow the markets would explode and money would be made and all would be forgotten at least till the net time.

Take care all.Scott Rhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06691939202323402610noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6161526625948441377.post-8786076952151650852019-08-04T12:04:00.000-07:002019-08-04T12:04:19.993-07:00CW2 who wins, A video by John Mark

A video here today with well over 1 million views that brings up another aspect related to prepping to think about. In my opinion there is no one single aspect of prepping that you should be planning on but more of a broad approach that is general enough to cover many things versus that one thing that may not happen.Scott Rhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06691939202323402610noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6161526625948441377.post-64523267906147324002019-04-20T16:25:00.004-07:002019-04-20T16:25:40.813-07:00Thoughts on 2019 and beyond. Back in the 80's when I was able to first look at the world with a somewhat educated brain cell I could see that the Soviet Union and the United States of America wanted to play a game of catch with ICBM's. Being a kid of that era where World War 2 and Vietnam were still very fresh in a lot of peoples minds I turned into a sort of history junkie as it relates to conflicts.

I have come to a conclusion that people like to control other people and force themselves either directly or by proxy and it seems that the end is always the same, we dominate, subjugate and kill ourselves to force a way of life and even an opinion with reckless regard.

We have a whole host of things to worry about as part of the preparedness community and for me that was initially nuclear warfare and while it still is on my list along with a whole host of other things that I am sure many of you share I usually take the sum of all those potential scenarios and come out with a common denominator of a plan that will work best for all events. I am now working to further tailor that plan to include what I see is a huge disconnect and deepening division of the general populace of this country especially as it relates to politics and what that might entail.

As a core basic it is my belief that a general plan should include the following basics:

Food

Shelter

Water

Protection

Communication

This combination while very general should cover what you will need in most situations, again this is just a basic outline and it will vary greatly depending on geography, population density, personal capability and so on.

Survival is not always about heading for the hills or rooftop or even getting deep in the bunker, surviving is also about having that situational awareness to know that something is not right and you need to do something in a rapidly executed fashion. If it dos not feel right DO SOMETHING NOW!

Circling back to the current political climate and division we are seeing a level of non-tolerance to the opposite at levels that I think will spiral even further out of control, it seem that cooperation and even talking to an other side is falling by the wayside and turning to censorship and outright violence at the drop of a comment. With the advent of social media and a I want it now and do not want to work for it we have a specifically educated population segment that goes down a very narrow road that has been proven time and time again to self destruction and this should not happen when as a very technically astute society have in the palm of our very hands the knowledge of the world if we just type www. But we don't, we instead decide that our own moral superiority gives way to the reality and fact that history repeats itself.

Good afternoon everyone its been a while. I have been meaning to do something here for quite a while and I pondered quite a bit just about what exactly that might mean. A lot has been going on in the world and some may say it is just all more of the same just with a few more shades of grey and I would probably agree with that. On a personal note life has pretty busy with some new things and quite a few old things as well. Family should always come first and that makes extra-curricular activities like this blog come in a little further down the list, add in to that I was for sure getting very burned out as this subject can do to a person. This does not mean that I have abandoned it by any means but I have had to re-locate it in my current world.

Speaking of that current world it has become no less dangerous and some would even argue that it is even more fractured and inching towards some kind of a melt down of epic proportions, Maybe so or maybe things will just grind on like they always do and things will happen regionally like they usually do. I believe that man is and has always been his own worst enemy and will always continue to be so. Take into account that the world seems to be getting smaller and smaller all the time and the actions of one person can have a ripple effect throughout the world, no longer are things or events confined to just a local area. We have through our technology enhanced our lives and made them better but we have also let in evil through that same technology, it is a delicate trade off.

Man's good and evil is also complimented with what nature can bring us and yes nature can still be that cruel and evil B word but that still does not change anything in the least bit, It remains true that you can not beat mother nature but You can lessen the impacts by the decisions that you make.

All these tangents betray my ADHD that I have so in a round about way of saying it I would like to spruce things up around here and get back to a few of the core things this blog was originally set up to do and that is to provide some decent information that you all might find interesting and beneficial to you the reader. Biased opinion included of coarse.
Tank care all and I hope to re-connect with some of you that might still actually have me on the reading list.

Seriously though please read it again and let it sink in just a little, It bothers me and it bothers me a whole lot that we call ourselves a FREE people but we tolerate these things. We have become so controlled that many of us do not even see it anymore "Its for our own Good" or "For the good of everyone" I makes me want to puke but with 50+% of the people now on some kind of Government program the deck is stacked that we will continue to have things that are bat shi*% crazy foisted upon us.

Smart Phone Contacts

In this day of everything and anything digital I would like to relate a recent experience that I had to endure here not too long ago and it touches on an area that I had really not looked at. My fun started with the destruction of my smartphone, to be exact my device became the victim of a really bad case of concrete poisoning ( drops from 30+ feet will do that.)

Now here is why it was such a problem, Look at your phone when you get a call, does the number show up or a name ? Like many of you most people I know that call me are entered into my contacts so when lets say Dave calls I see Dave show up and that's how I call Dave as well, look up his name and call. What I am getting at here is that we really don't have to remember phone numbers anymore we just look up the name and hit the little highlighted green phone symbol and connect away and don't even give is a second thought.

Now when I lost my phone to a complete and early destruction I stood dumbfounded because every number to everyone I knew was now unavailable to me until I could get a new phone and pull everything down from the cloud and repopulate a new phone. Now here is the embarrassing part, I didn't even know my home phone number..... Really, My office number? Nope, I had to look at the side of my work van to get that...... EPIC FAIL on my part........

So long and short of this experience is you never know when you might lose a valuable piece of equipment that many of us use so much now in our daily lives. We are now so tethered to this communication device that when we lose it we really put ourselves in a pickle with regard to phone numbers and that could severely hurt your communications options in an emergency.

How to fix it: Going old school and break out the little black book so to speak. I have now one of these and have all of my important contacts in it and I don't have to worry about the battery going dead of dropping it and shattering it into base fragments. This book is small enough that it fits in a pocket and you hardly know it's there.

Your thoughts?

Ayn Rand (1905-1982) A woman so far ahead of her time and blessed with such eloquence that many of will never know or ever hold a candle too. The more a person reads of such great people the more we realize how far we are sliding down the evolutionary ladder into the abyss.

One would think that with all the discoveries we have made in technology, medicine and other areas we would have a purpose or a sense of direction to a level of the times but we just do not seem to have a grasp on reality, Only the shiny bright object and the 15 minutes of fame for acts that not so long ago would bring absolute shame, we now have no shame.

Times of the past were far more simple and much more pure, a man worked hard for what he had and a woman worked even harder, Teamwork meant everything, it usually meant the difference between living an honest life or an early miserable grave. Taking things for granted were few and far between, you earned everything you wanted and you did it with pride, not so much these days but few would know as those generations are leaving us as they pass on. That generation with so much wisdom and moral integrity seems to have not been able to pass on what they learned and we see the results of that now here in this country. This country is rapidly sinking further and further into degradation, we are beyond the sewer, destination unknown.
(derived from the latin term secessio) is the act of withdrawing from an organization, union, or especially a political entity. Threats of secession also can be a strategy for achieving more limited goals. (Stolen from Wiki)

As I know many of you out there are well informed and quasi news junkies I am sure that it has not passed your attention as of late the 20 or so petitions that have been filed with the White House web site seeking to secede from the union. I find it not surprising at all especially after this years election, had it gone the other way I am sure we would still be in the midst of a national riots over "voter fraud and racism" all said and done the election is over and now the consequences will come into play and reality is going hit us in the wallet worse than it already has been. I see the divide here in the country between makers and takers and the takers just won hence the secession talk. The theoretical ball is now rolling and In my humble opinion think it deserves an honest debate and looked at on the merits.

This country was built on a diversity between states, yes we held some things as a basic common but you knew that if one state didn't suit you specific taste you were free to move to another. We still have that to a certain extent but to a far lesser degree. We now have a federal government and partial populace that wants to dictate to you what your life will be or what you can and can't do, what you have to buy as a result of being a citizen of this country or pay fines and go to jail ( Think healthcare ) or how about this, a law on what size of a soda pop you can buy ( Think New York ) Small things add up, and more laws come down the pike every day.

Parallels can be drawn here from when we wanted our independence from an English King, that King is now Washington DC and the central government, I cant say if secession is the answer but I do know that the federal government holds too big of a stick and they are not afraid to use it against any one or many states as they have already shown. I would like to see us get back to a more local state government as it was in the past, elected local officials tend to be somewhat more grounded in you issues and problems when they are in the same stew pot with you in the same city or state verses someone who is elected and sent to the closed off city of a Washington DC where they loose touch the instant they get there but as I have said maybe the idea of secession will spur some attention, maybe, maybe not. For myself I do believe it will end up being fought tooth and nail by the federal government and they will do everything in their power to squash it because they know if even one state leaves more will follow and the loss of revenue and control from a producing state such at Texas for instance would have far reaching consequences, I for one wouldn't be able to pack my bags fast enough to get there if they decided to pull out.

In closing I would love to hear you opinions, thoughts, concerns or any other tidbit you may have.
I believe this country has been riding the coattails of the last hundred years and now our time is up. Good job America I hope you choke on it, every single rotten piece of it.
US Ambassador Christopher Stevens has been killed last night September the 11th, Smothered to death as some reports are stating, He was murdered inside the walls of a US embassy. This statement should speak volumes on how completely incompetent this administration handles it's foreign affairs, the blood of this Ambassador is directly on it's and the state department's hands, of this I have no Doubt.

How in the world could you have an embassy in a hostile country that is still a form or revolution both politically and militarily not brimming to the teeth with security, Marines. How the hell does an Ambassador get killed without there being a bunch of dead marines surrounding him, how the hell are there not hundreds of of dead, fence jumping, murdering protesters littering the grounds of the embassy, I'll tell you why, it's because there were no Marines there, that can be the only answer, How the HELL, WHY the HELL, My only clear answer to this is that they were ordered to not be there, ther is just no other answer to that, clearly they should have been there, the situation dictates they should have been there, the location Dictates they should have been there, being September the 11th means they should have been there, Having been bombed earlier in the year dictates they should have been there, there are any number of reasons for there to have been a strong contingent of Marine security on station to prevent this. As I said earlier these murdering
bastards should be stacked up like cord wood outside the embassy walls right now, shot down from the walls they scaled, there should have been no way for this mob to be able to get to an ambassador, NONE. Clearly there must have been no US security present, the word is that Security was provided by local Libyan security personnel, and reports also have been coming in that they informed the protesters/ murderers as to what building the Ambassador was in. I smell a Rat of the highest order, Here in the US if you are a getaway driver of an armed robbery and someone is killed and even if you were not the one who pulled the trigger you are just as guilty for that murder, well I hold two people guilty for this murder and for the other three people who lost their lives in this embassy attack. DISGUSTING.

Communications, we take them for granted that we will always have them when we want or need them.

This can be a true statement a good part of the time especially during normal times of peace and tranquility, unfortunately those good times tend to be interrupted from time to time and there is almost not a thing we can do about it, or is there.

Many of us in this day and age can not go more than 20 minutes without looking at the piece of electronic equipment in our front pocket, yes our cell phones. These devices have become an inseparably part of out every day carry and we have become almost a slave to them and I know when mine does not work it turns into a minor inconvenience in normal times, now imagine if you really needed it for say an emergency?

I have touched on various forms of communications in previous posts and I believe that many people under rate how important they can be in that emergency situation where normal forms of infrastructural communications are not available. Infrastructural forms of communications fall into the category of your cell phone and your land line, we all know that storms can take out cell towers or power lines that connect the system and make some form of hard line connection at some point, yes even cell phones at some point go all Alexander Graham Bell
on us and turn into either copper of fiber optic lines during there journey to their destination so therefore a failure can happen. Another disruption that we have all experienced at some point in our lives it the "ALL CIRCUITS ARE BUSY AT THIS TIME"

The bottom line here is to have some sort of an emergency backup in place to be able to communicate, knowledge is power to borrow the phrase from Mr.Sir Francis Bacon.

Knowledge of what is going on in an emergency situation is of vital importance, it will allow you to make the best possible decision in an event, it can also in a way give a calming effect because you know what is happening and where, it removes the unknown or doubt, again knowledge is power and it is an advantage that you should take at every opportunity.

The product that I would like to introduce today Is one that I have and use and I am very glad that I have come across it and I will be adding more of them to my inventory here shortly. The above and below product that you see it the BAOFENG UV_5R 2 way radio, this radio is a dual band that covers UHF 400-480MHz VHF 136-174MHz or as some of you might recognize this as part of the HAM radio band as well as the FRS, GMRS and the MURS band, this one radio will cover them all.

To take full advantage to this radio one should obtain their Ham radio license as they have become far easier to obtain in the past few years especially since they have dropped the code requirement (Morse Code) from the technician class. Tests are of multiple choice and with a small amount of study ( online options ) for free it makes this a very attractive form of communications. I will note that you can still obtain this radio without having a license and use it for a passive scanner which will still give you a wealth of information and the ability to legally use it ( transmit ) on non ham channels that fall into the above mentioned FRS, GMRS and MURS channels, You can listen in on the ham and emergency weather alert channels but you are again forbidden to legally transmit on these ham channels without your license but in a life or death situation no one will throw you in jail.

My only wish with this radio is that it were made in the US but like so many other thing it is not but that is for another post both past and future. What attracted me to this radio it the coverage it can provide as well as it's front keyboard that allows you to program it yourself although there is a computer cable you can buy that will allow you to program it through your computer if you wish. The best feature though has to be the cost of the radio, an almost unheard cost of around $50

I would put this piece of gear into any collection, it is light enough to carry anywhere and versatile enough to cover many of the bands you may need so check it out and give it some consideration, there are many accessories that go along with this radio as well, I rate it a top buy for sure.
